A lot of women are recommended drugs as part of their breast cancer treatment. The sort of drug and dosage will be various from patient to patient relying on her medical condition.

This is not a comprehensive list of all drugs employed to treat breast cancer: abraxane, adriamycin, aredia, arimidex, aromasin, chemotherapy regimens, cytoxan, ellence, evista, fareston, femara, herceptin, megace, tamoxifen, taxol, taxotere, xeloda, zoladex and zometa.

In 2005 Abraxane was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to facilitate treat women with advanced breast cancer who have not acted in response well to mixture chemotherapy, or who have reverted in six months of chemotherapy. Abraxane is similar to the drug Taxol but different from taxol, is not needed to be dissolved in a toxic solvent before administration. Side effects of Abraxane may include neutropenia, anemia, infections, edema, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, nerve damage and severe pain in the muscles or joints.

Adriamycin is a chemotherapy drug usually utilized to treat breast cancer and other cancers. Adriamycin initial disrupts, and after that obliterates the development of cancer cells. It is typically administered intravenously. Common side effects might include decreased white blood cell count with increased risk of infection, decreased platelet count with increased risk of bleeding, loss of appetite, darkening of nail beds and skin creases of hands, hair loss, nausea and vomiting and mouth sores.

The FDA at present approved a new breast cancer drug called Tykerb for a number of advanced breast cancers. The FDA approved the drug for usage in mixture with another cancer drug, Xeloda, to treat particular patients with advanced breast cancer or breast cancer that has extended.

The extensively employed chemotherapy drug Taxol does not function for the most widespread shape of breast cancer and helps out far fewer patients than has been thought, surprising new research advocates.

If additional study bears this out, over 20,000 women every year in the United States only may be spared the side effects of this drug or similar ones with no considerably raising the risk their cancer will come back. That would be approximately half of all breast cancer patients who get chemo today.

Once you’ve been identified with breast cancer, your doctor might lay down a definite drug therapy. You might have chemotherapy, and you might take prescription for years after you’ve finished treatment. Each person is different; therefore your treatment will be adapted to your necessities.

Stage 3 involves a mastectomy and lymph node removal as a typical of care. A joint approach of both chemotherapy and radiation is usually suggested following surgery. Endocrine and targeted/biologic therapies might be alternatives for treatment as well.

Stage 3A indicates
- Even though no tumour is observed in the breast, the lymph nodes beneath the arm contain cancer cells and are stuck jointly, but there is no sign of cancer extend or
- The tumour is 5 cm or less, the lymph nodes in the armpit include cancer cells and are stuck to each other, but the cancer has not extend elsewhere or
- The tumour is more than 5 cm, the lymph nodes in the armpit include cancer cells and might be stuck jointly, but there is no further extend

Stage 3B indicates
- The tumour is fixed to the skin or chest wall, the lymph nodes might or might not include cancer cells, but there is no further extend

Stage 3C indicates
- The tumour could be any size and has extended to lymph nodes in the armpit and beneath the breast bone, or to nodes above or below the collarbone, but there is no further extend

Stage 3 breast cancer is typified by one of the following:
- A primary cancer that measures less than 5 cm (2 inches) in size and causes axillary (underarm) lymph nodes to be attached to each other or other structures
- A primary cancer that is greater than 5 cm (2 inches) in size and involves axillary lymph nodes
- A primary cancer that is attached to the chest wall or skin

Breast cancer that has extended to the lymph nodes is generally referred to as node-positive disease.

Effective treatment of stage 3 breast cancer needs both local and systemic therapy. Local therapy includes surgery and/or radiation and is directed at obliterating any cancer cells in or near the breast. Systemic therapy is aimed at at obliterating cancer cells all through the body, and might consist of chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, or biological therapy. Systemic therapy might be managed prior to surgery, which is named neoadjuvant therapy.

Digital mammography, where the detector uses digital technology, has been shown to be superior to conventional analog screen-film mammography, especially in the difficult-to-image denser breasts. However, the long-term promise of digital mammography is probably its use as an enabler of more advanced imaging methods. One of these is known as tomosynthesis. Breast tomosynthesis is a three-dimensional (3-D) digital mammography imaging technology that has shown significant early promise in improving mammography’s accuracy.

Breast tomosynthesis consists of taking multiple images at multiple angles about a stationary compressed breast, with a total radiation dose similar to conventional mammography. The images are reconstructed into a 3-D image, similarly to CT or MRI images. The value of the 3-D image is tumors are less likely to be hidden amongst normal tissues as they are in a two dimensional (2-D) conventional mammogram. Early clinical trials of tomosynthesis show the potential for both improved cancer detection and the reduction in the need for additional diagnostic imaging for women who are subsequently found to be cancer free.

Contrast mammography, as described here, is a 2-D imaging modality. Thus, it suffers from the same limitations as conventional mammography, whereby overlying normal tissues can mask the pathologies of interest. We have seen how tomosynthesis imaging, because it is 3-D, helps improve visibility. It is thus natural to try and combine these two techniques into what is known as contrast enhanced breast tomosynthesis. This means 3-D imaging of the contrast agent. The iodinated contrast agent is administered in the conventional way, and instead of performing 2-D digital mammography, the patient is imaged using the breast tomosynthesis machine. The radiologist will then review the sequence of 3-D images of the drug’s flow into and out of the breast tissue.

Contrast enhanced breast tomosynthesis is similar to another imaging modality that is increasingly becoming more commonplace- breast MRI. In breast MRI, the patient is given an injection of an MRI contrast agent, and the patient undergoes a sequence of MRI images. Both methods are looking for local contrast agent concentrations that can be indicative of breast cancer. Both look for washin and washout characteristics to try to differentiate benign from malignant pathologies. And both image the contrast agents using 3-D technology.

Does wearing a bra increase the chances you’ll get breast cancer? There has been some rumor mongering in this regard. In this article, we take a look at whether there is any correlation and where the rumor comes from.

There is no correlation between wearing bras and an increased risk of breast cancer. So says the American Cancer Society. In fact, the Society doesn’t deny or affirm an increased risk of cancer. Why? No medically relevant studies have been done on the issue, thus nobody really knows. That may seem stunning given the concerns surrounding breast cancer, but it is a simple fact.

So, how did all these rumors arise? The web is a wonderful place, but it is also one where anyone can say practically anything and get away with it. The bras-breast cancer rumor appears to have arisen from the “Dressed to Kill” book. The book was written by Sydney Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer, two anthropologists. They assert that a bra restricts the lymph system causing toxins to build up and cancer to occur.

Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer are two interesting characters. Singer earned a degree in anthropology from Duke University. Grismaijer has no known degree, but is believed to be an optician. It is unclear how these two non-medical figures feel qualified to draw conclusions on breast cancer any more than you or I, but they did when they self published Dressed to Kill.

The conclusions in Dressed to Kill are drawn from the idea of studying women in different situations. Singer and Grismaijer looked at women wearing bras versus women who do not. They allegedly found that those not wearing bras showed rare cases of breast cancer while women wearing bras suffered far more instances. There is no consideration of other issues such as diet, environmental causes and so forth.

To really get a taste of the views of Singer and Grismaijer, you need to consider their work after the bra “studies”. At last glance, they were self publishing books on the evil of sleeping horizontally. This apparently is the cause of everything from prostate cancer to Alzheimer’s Disease. They are strong proponents of the idea that we should all be sleeping on a slant.

It is easy to dismiss these two characters based on their haphazard approach to studying medical issues and their unorthodox views. That being said, the relationship between bras and health should be studied closer. I am pretty sure tight pants don’t give men prostrate cancer nor will a tight hat give you brain cancer. Still, the fact nobody has apparently every looked closely at how bras relate to breast health is somewhat shocking. Until then, I’ll wear my bra, but it should be looked at extensively.

Tiffany Hart writes about issues related to plus size bras for DivaBras.com – where you can find quality name brand bras and bra care instructions to make them last.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, as a woman you are at risk of breast cancer even though it not common for younger women to get breast cancer. It is very complicated and upsetting to be diagnosed with cancer within your childbearing age. In most cases, this is very unexpected.

If you develop breast cancer at a younger age, then you need to make very important and difficult decision about your life and your future. This may lead you to approach life very differently than you originally expected.

It is very rare to develop breast cancer while you are pregnant but it can still happen. When it happens this way, then the treatment should be chosen not only with the affected patient in mind but also with the growing fetus inside her.

Thorough checks must to be conducted on her to determine the stage of the pregnancy and the stage of the cancer before a treatment is settled on.

In most of such cases, pregnant women are treated for the breast cancer and their babies are not affected. But in some cases, it will be risky to receive certain needed treatment with pregnancy. When it happens this way, then obstetricians and health-care practitioners advice for the pregnancy to be terminated, especially in cases where the pregnancy is in its early stage. However, the finally decision to terminate the pregnancy rests on the woman carrying the baby.

The fetus will not be affect in any way from the breast cancer but only that, certain tests and treatments will have bad effect on it. The option for treatment will therefore be limited if the pregnancy is not terminated. Medically, it is not necessary to terminate the pregnancy if the test and treatment will not affect the fetus.

Treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, tamoxifen and other identified drug-related therapies are generally avoided when treating an expectant mother. Such treatment can easily lead to large extent of birth defects. Tamoxifen which is a hormonal therapy is particular classified very unsafe for expectant mother or someone planning to conceive. In addition, taking tamoxifen after chemotherapy to prevent recurrence is as well not encouraged if the woman desires to become pregnant right away. On the other hand, surgery, either mastectomy or lumpectomy is most favored in situations of expectant women

Another controversial issue concerning breast cancer and child bearing is whether or not breast cancer survivors can or should go ahead and have children after they recover from treatment.

Firm advocates on both sides of the debate raises some good questions about the situation such as:

1) To what extent do breast cancer treatments affect fertility? and

2) How safe it is to conceive and carry a baby after breast cancer treatments?

As far as fertility is concern, it is hard to get exact answer here. For example, with chemotherapy the extent to which it affect fertility depends on the age of the victim and the specific drug used.

The ideal situation according to many doctors is for breast cancer survivors to wait several years to ensure the disease is completely cure and has no possibility of recurrence before they think about child bearing. However, some women decide to go ahead and have babies right away, since it’s so important to them.

Breast cancer can be effectively treated if it is detected early enough. It is therefore strongly advised that we all become aware of breast cancer symptoms so we can seek medical advice as early as possible.

The folk medicine in China has yielded a new promising approach to treating cancer. The scientists in Seattle have proven that a compound extracted from the wormwood plant seeks out and destroys the cells of breast cancer and leaving healthy cells unscathed. An inexpensive, non-toxic and safe alternative, Artemisia is closely related to oxygen therapy. The key to it’s success is peroxide linkage within the herb’s active molecule.

Dr. Henry Lai, a bioengineering researcher from the University of Washington, reports that the compound killed virtually all human cancer cells exposed to it in the test tube within 16 hours, in laboratory experiments. And nearly all the normal cells were alive. Chinese folk practitioners extracted Artemisin from the plant Artemisia annua L., also known as wormwood. It was used to treat malaria thousands of years ago.

Scientist started to experiment why artemisin works as an anti-malaria agent and this also led to its tests as an anticancer drug. High iron concentrations turned out to be the a shared characteristic of dividing cancer cells and of the malaria parasite.

When artemisinin or any of its derivatives comes into contact with iron, a chemical reaction occurs, spawning charged atoms that chemists call free radicals. The free radicals in malaria attack and bind with cell membranes, breaking them apart and killing the single-cell parasite. They need iron to replicate DNA when they divide. Cancer cells have much higher iron concentrations than normal, because cancer is characterized by out-of-control cell division.

Cancer cells have a lot more transferrin receptors on the surface, cellular pathways that allow iron to enter. According to Dr. Henry Lai, breast cancer cells have 5-15 times more transferrin receptors on their surface than normal breast cells. The strategy for Dr. Lai was to pump up cancer cells with even more iron and then introduce artemisinin to selectively kill them.

Lai subjected both normal breast cells and breast cancer cells to either a compound known as
holotransferrin, a water-soluble form of artemisinin or both compounds. Lai reported that after eight hours, three-fourths of the cancer cells were completely obliterated. Nearly all of them were dead after 16 hours.

I am a breast cancer survivor, five years out. I have been through most of the highs and lows of this disease. Five surgeries, four chemo treatments and thirty three radiation treatments later, I am now in the follow-up stage. After all this, I must say to you — don’t stop now! Follow-up treatment is just as important to your health and well being as the prior treatments. All the scans, and medications are to help you with your recovery. They can’t give you a 100 percent guarantee that your cancer will not return, but they can increase your chances 90 percent that they will not.

What the follow-up treatments consist of all depends on the advanced stage of your cancer and whether you have had a mastectomy. Your doctor will take all this into consideration and follow the best plan of action for you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! If you need to, take a note pad and pencil in to your doctor appointments with your written questions, and write down the answers you get. This will help you keep in mind all the things the doctor tells you and what treatment options he recommends.

I feel like I am one of the lucky ones out there. I had stage 2 breast cancer. My tumor was the size of an eraser on the end of a pencil. I had a choice of either a lumpectomy or mastectomy. I chose the lumpectomy. In my mind the size of an eraser was so small, how could that be such a big deal? Little did I know at the time that when they removed the tumor they would also take out a half an inch around to check for active cancer cells. They found some in the surrounding tissue. Again I asked for the lumpectomy to be performed thinking “OK, this will surely be all there is.” At that time the doctor suggested removing lymph nodes to check if the cancer had spread. Three to four days later the results were back. Good news; no cancer in the lymph nodes. However, the cancer cells were found in the surrounding tissue again.

So less than a week later I was back in surgery for what I was hoping would be the last time. I was informed it would be my last shot at a lumpectomy. Good news this time — a clean margin came back! Because of the spreading of the cancer and the surgeries it took to get clean margins, I now had to go for chemo and radiation treatments. After all this I am now in the follow-up stage and almost through with it. Following up with the treatments is as important to me as all the other treatments before. I go for mammograms, blood work and bone scans, which I think are a lot easier than the prior treatments. I have been on Tamoxifen and Arimidex for three years that help to prevent the cancer from coming back.

Keep with the treatments, and don’t ever give up on this life. You have a lot to offer and a lifetime to keep learning and enjoying!

So…you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. Your world has been turned completely upside down. You have thoughts of surgeries and toxic chemical cocktails dancing through your head. What are you going to do?

Let’s start by listing the things you are not going to do. You are not going to panic. You are not going ‘what if’ yourself into death. And you are not going to just accept whatever your doctor says without exploring your options.

There’s absolutely no doubt that you have been told you need surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or some combination of the three. So, to add to your fears of dying from breast cancer, now you get to think of having them cut off, or losing your hair. It doesn’t sound like a very appealing thought to me. But those doctors are really convincing, aren’t they? They dangle that survival rate carrot in front of you like they’re so proud of themselves for butchering your body for you.

I could go on and on and on. But I’d rather let you in on the many benefits of natural breast cancer treatment. And by natural, I mean non-invasive. By natural I mean you get to keep all your parts and get rid of the cancer instead. Here are some of the benefits you’ll get by using a more natural approach:

Non-Invasive – Using natural treatments to kill your breast cancer is a non-invasive, gentle way to restore yourself to health. If you’re like me, you’ve grown quite comfortable with your breasts, so why have them lopped off if it isn’t necessary. And it isn’t necessary!

Non-Toxic – Natural breast cancer treatments will kill your cancer cells without harming the healthy ones. That is a fundamental problem with chemotherapy. Sure, it will kill cancer cells. It will also kill hair cells, and stomach cells, and reproductive cells. Any rapidly dividing cell is fair game. And again, why go through it if you don’t have to?

Restores Balance – You have breast cancer because your body is out of balance. If everything inside of you was living in harmony and balance, breast cancer wouldn’t be a part of your life right now. Natural breast cancer treatment will restore balance to your body and help bring it back to its natural state.

Addresses the Cause – Here’s the bottom line about cancer treatment. Conventional medicine treats symptoms and natural medicine treats the cause. You have breast cancer for a reason. There’s some underlying cause that got you to this point. The symptoms of that problem are rapidly dividing cells and tumors. Cutting out tumors and blasting celss with chemicals may get rid of what’s obvious, but the reason you got cancer in the first place is still there. Which is probably why it comes back for so many people.

These are just a few of the reasons why a more natural approach is best for treatment of any type of cancer. It’s your body. Love it, take control of it, and stand up for it. You deserve the best.

Maybe the most important element of this whole situation is action. You’re not going to accomplish anything one way or the other without taking some sort of action. Take advantage of this opportunity to save yourself. You can get access to over 350 non-toxic, non-invasive natural breast cancer treatments when you click here now: Kill Your Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is an ugly word that no woman ever wants to hear. And why would we? We know that so often the first course of action is to cut one or both of our breasts off. And then we get to look forward to round after round of debilitating chemotherapy and watch our hair fall out. Then, maybe if we’re really lucky we can get zapped by some radiation too. It’s a sickening process!

In my opinion, the best way to fight breast cancer is to put all that conventional stuff on the backburner and explore a more natural way to get the job done. Cutting off body parts is barbaric. Pumping your body full of toxic chemicals isn’t exactly a treat either. If your end goal is to be cancer free and healthy, how can these ridiculous treatments accomplish that?

Chemotherapy kills healthy cells along with the cancer cells. That’s why you get so sick and your hair falls out. Not to mention it has a very poor success rate at keeping your cancer away permanently. And radiation…I thought we’re told to avoid radiation because it can cause cancer. How can it heal the same thing it creates?

You have breast cancer because your body is out of balance. There are underlying causes why your body has developed this problem, and unless you address them, it will never be gone for good. A weakened immune system can cause breast cancer. An acidic bloodstream can causes breast cancer. Low oxygen levels and estrogen mimicking chemicals from your personal care products can cause breast cancer.

The best way to fight breast cancer is to treat the causes and not the symptoms. There are literally hundreds of natural treatments that are gentle and non-toxic and will restore your body to a state it longs to be in. Happy and cancer free.

There is an increasing awareness about breast cancer and a toxin called dioxin. Certain plastics under common conditions leaks this toxin which is being found in breast tissue. You can prevent this problem from occurring if you read further.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the tissues and cause them to mutate into cancer cells. These toxins are especially damaging to the breast tissue. A combination of heat and fatty foods when processed in plastic containers leaks into the foods. The dioxin is then ingested through the food into your tissue.

Other containers such as TV dinner, instant soup containers, styro microwaveable containers should be transferred into glass or some other safe item for cooking.

You have to be cautious when you cover safe bowls for microwave heating, Using saran wrap or something similar will drip toxins in your food when being nuked. It’s when you are in a hurry that you might forget the dangers that these plastics posses.

Other signs of dioxin poisoning

    * Skin lesion’s
* Altered liver function
* Immune system failure
* Nervous system interruption

More than 90% of human consumption of this toxin comes from food. Meats, fish, shellfish and dairy products are the major carriers of dioxins. Trimming the fats from meats and balancing your diet with more anti-oxidants can help in the prevention of overloading your system with these toxins.

It is almost impossible to totally avoid this toxin because of the feed used in industrial meat plants. Even though the FDA has established safe limits for human consumption, the accumulation of these and other toxins has put an extra burden your system.

To find out more about this subject.

Go to the Health Hub for more information on this subject. Learn how to reduce this toxin from getting into your system. It’s time to take back your Health. It’s time to enjoy life again and it’s your time to find out about all the choices you have for Good Health.
