Bilateral Mastectomy and Post Treatment Choice to Ditch Negativity
Whether you have experienced a breast cancer diagnosis, bilateral mastectomy surgery or not, there are sometimes difficult choice and change to make to experience more serenity and joy. This morning a friend began to complain one more time about her room mates and how they don’t respect her property and her wishes. I noticed her sadness and how much pain she was in feeling so disappointed by the actions of others. I was reminded of the lessons we can learn from absolutely everything on our path even including negative people and difficult situations.
Each of us has the choice to take or use every situation we encounter as an opportunity for course correction or change. One of the most healing aspects of my post treatment tine is this lesson: that everything I encounter is an opportunity. Everything you encounter is an opportunity. Yes, everything.
It’s lovely when life is in a flow and rhythm of peace, serenity and joy. Lots to celebrate. I’m in that space much of the time.
Periodically a difficult situation comes up and I get new lessons. Even the difficult situations at work, in the neighborhood or within your family make opportunities for learning. Every situation, every person, everything in your path can be used to support you to learn and grow. Yes, you get to take it personally and by that I mean you get to look into the mirror, have a conversation with that face and make choices because it’s certain that you’re not going to change the other person.
To my precious friend and to you, I say, ask, ‘What am I being offered here? What is the teaching from which I can benefit from this negativity?’ Noticing the effect that complaining, whining and negativity has provides you both new lessons to be learned and healthy choices to make. That’s how negative, complaining, whiny people can help now.
